Manager, Finance and Accounting
The Manager, Finance and Accounting position is located in Mountain View, California and reports directly to the CFO. This position works closely with the CFO, CEO and Human Resources. Responsibilities include overseeing all financial and accounting activities, including Payroll, while following all regulatory and accounting guidelines. This position will be responsible for preparing documentation and reporting financial data to management and headquarters in Japan; identifying and preventing discrepancies; Setting up internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage all Company financial and accounting processes (billing, tax forms, reporting, etc.) to standard and ensure accurate financial reporting and control
- Monitor Companie’s financial and accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances
- Manage Payroll, Finance and Accounting teams (hire, fire, mentor, discipline.) Provide leadership and support in costing, inventory, journal entries, invoicing, expense monitoring, payroll, reconciliation of accounts for monthly and annual closing, etc.
- Continued focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices.
- Participate in strategic financial projects.
- Manage the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and establish best practices.
- Manage the preparation of budget and forecast, annual audit and financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements.
- Ensure timely payments and book closing.
- Fixed Asset Management
- Complete projects on assigned schedule.
- Help in development of reports for management or regulatory bodies.
- Prompt solution of various requests by management
- Utilize accounting IT system to facilitate processes and maintain records.
- Analyze monthly Financial results and report summary to management and Headquarters.
- Approve and sign PO requisitions, capital asset acquisition or asset transfer.
- Check signing authority and approve wire/ACH payment.
- Prepare regular and ad hoc reporting required by CFO and Headquarters to include the following:
- Monthly Business Performance Reporting
- Quarterly Financial Reporting
- Budgets or forecasts
- Other
Position Requirements (Knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform satisfactorily in the position)
- Proven experience as a manager or similar position and successful experience mentoring/supervising employees
- Organized professional with attention to detail, ability to prioritize and problem-solve.
- Extensive knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations.
- Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting, etc.)
- Excellent understanding of data analysis and forecasting
- Working knowledge of Ms. Office: Excel (must), Word and PowerPoint; and accounting software (e.g. SAP, AX System)
- Reliable and able to carry out tasks autonomously and collaboratively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English (bilingual in Japanese is preferred)
- Must communicate and interact well with all levels of employees, vendors and service agencies.
- Ability to multi-task
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree (Accounting or Business Administration)
- CPA or MA is preferred
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Accounting
- Minimum 3 years’ experience managing/mentoring employees
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has supervisory responsibility.

- Professional office environment.
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- Teamwork emphasized. Work environment is international and racially diversified
Physical Demands
- Long periods of sitting continuously up to 2 hours at a time and up to 8 plus hours total in a day
- Frequent use of hands (mouse, keyboard, writing) continuously up to 2 hours at a time and up to 8 plus hours total in a day
- Frequent viewing of computer screen continuously up to 2 hours at a time and up to 8 plus hours total in a day

Wage Range
$95,000 – $120,000
Travel Demands
Up to 10% (may travel to Japan, conferences and other Company locations)
